Uma Inder Expose Follow-up

This comes as an important follow-up to our Uma Inder expose.

For the record, for all those who claim that FACT never responded to Uma’s lawyer, attached please find the prompt responses that we sent for each communication received from her lawyer Erwin Siregar.
We at FACT would like to see a truce and a fact-finding discussion between the alleged victims and Uma Inder. We would also recommend for Yoga Barn (who employed Uma Inder for years), to be involved in this process. We believe the alleged victims deserve at least this much from Uma and Yoga Barn in an effort to bring some closure to their lives and to help with their healing process.

THE UMA INDER EXPOSE – CONCLUSION - PART 3

In the final part of our expose conclusion, we would like to address a few important points and what we are requesting from Uma Inder:

First and foremost, we are expecting Ms. Inder to make a public apology to all the alleged victims who have come forward with their allegations and evidence, and to permanently change her teachings and practices that have damaged the lives of her alleged victims. We cannot remain silent knowing that people are being harmed by what we believe are Uma Inder’s destructive teachings, and we feel it is necessary for us to warn the public.

It is interesting to note how Uma’s supporters have gone silent during the conclusion of our expose. It is typical for cult defenders to be silenced once their leader is exposed, and we believe our expose has succeeded in bringing the truth to light.

In response to Uma’s claim that we took down our expose previously because of a cease and desist order from a Yoga Barn lawyer against us, she is grossly incorrect. We never received an actual court ordered cease and desist, it was merely an email threat from Yoga Barn’s lawyer, which did not influence our casework nor our expose. Moreover, this threat was merely to remove any mention of Yoga Barn from our expose, which we refused to abide by since there was no denying the connection between Uma Inder and Yoga Barn who employed her for many years and then terminated her, we believe due to the complaints filed against her from her alleged victims. Yoga Barn claimed no further involvement with Uma Inder after her termination, yet in February of 2017 we found a calendar advertisement online that mentioned Uma Inder teaching Ayurveda at Yoga Barn for 2017-2018. When we informed Yoga Barn’s lawyer about this, they blamed it on a “clerical error on the part of our webmaster” and removed Uma’s name from the calendar ad.

Lastly, in response to Uma’s claim of defamation, we believe that truth speaks for itself and is of course defendable. The fact that there are multiple complaints filed against her with corroborating allegations, not to mention the overwhelming amount of supporting evidence behind these allegations, made the truth evident in this case.

We are still waiting for Uma to come forward to openly and honestly discuss all the allegations against her, and not hide behind her defenders and lawyers. If she does, we will update our expose and posts accordingly.

This concludes our Uma Inder expose. According to the complaints and evidence received against Uma Inder from multiple parties, we believe Umaa may be acting as a cult leader that seems to severely damage her followers in many ways. In our opinion, Umaa Inder’s recruitment, indoctrination, and control techniques are typical to that of destructive high-control/demand groups (as per our analysis using the B.I.T.E. model). We believe her goal is to psychologically break down students in the name of “transparency” and “enlightenment” for control and exploitation purposes. According to the complaints, in our opinion it seems Umaa Inder has no regard for the physical, mental, emotional and financial well-being of her followers. In our estimation, we believe Umaa Inder may be very dangerous and advise potential students to think twice before becoming a student of this yogi guru.

We commend all of the brave ex-students for finding the courage to come together and speak out in an effort to warn potential students and stop the alleged manipulation and abuse, as stated in this quote from an alleged victim:

“…it is due to these systematic threats and intimidation that Uma Inder has been able to operate for so long without being exposed. These threats require that we protect our identities for the time being. However, we are so concerned about the well-being of current, inactive, former, and possible future cult members that we choose to begin exposing the abuses carried out by Uma Inder.”

In our opinion, Uma Inder’s teachings are not those of healing, peace or enlightenment since they have allegedly caused tremendous harm to some of her student followers (positive, healthy and harmonious teachings do not cause such a negative reaction).

Though Uma’s supporters have every right to try and defend her, we are asking Uma Inder to step out from behind them and from behind her lawyers, to speak for herself and discuss with us each and every allegation made against her, which we believe is the only way to achieve a resolution on this matter and start the healing / recovery process for the alleged victims.

Again, this expose was the result of allegations and evidence received against Uma Inder by ex-students. The purpose of this expose is to warn, educate, potentially save lives and to protect any potential victims. It is absolutely not intended to slander, libel or harm anyone mentioned in the expose.

THE UMA INDER EXPOSE – CONCLUSION - PART 1

As the first part of our Uma Inder expose conclusion, we post this statement written to Uma by her alleged victims:

"Uma, we implore you and your followers to deeply question if what you achieved is actually an enlightened state, or a protected, walled-off state of isolation where the basic laws of human decency and empathy no longer apply to you because you are above, beyond, under, and/or over them—and kicking, tackling, pulling hair, throwing people back by the neck, punching in the stomach, slapping, hitting with objects, name-calling, shaming, publicly humiliating, mocking suicidal cries for help, and sexually grinding against a student in an altered state are all seen as "blessings" and completely normalized because…because why, Uma? Because you are truly so "special"? Because you did it "all for love"? We want you to deeply consider and reconsider these actions and see the possibility that they are abuses of human decency and gross violations of the position of power you have put yourself in and demand from your followers...NOT blessings that are destroying a false sense of self (which you claim the authority and knowledge to be able to do). We pray you will see them as your own unowned shadow, begging to see the light.

You have said so many times that "everything has a place," and that the "whole picture" or "whole truth" must be seen by the myriad perspectives that see it. It is easy to find heavy praise about you on the internet. We have felt it incredibly important to also make available the shadow side. We note how hard you have tried to prevent our experience from being shared publicly.

We want your followers to consider this all very deeply. Please remember: we have written and audio evidence for all of these actions, as well as the testimony of far more people than you or your followers want to acknowledge. We are not making any of this up: it would be a horrendous waste of time and precious life energy for us to start a fictitious smear campaign. We do this out of sincere concern for your current and future followers, and desire to prevent harm.

Our genuine hope is that this public exposure of your behavior will inspire deep and searing self-reflection on your actions; on where you may be mistaken; on where you may have done wrong; on the ways you may be deluded--and that you will then profoundly and authentically apologize for the deceptions and abuses you have committed against so many people. We wish for these apologies to come with extensive and detailed specifics--not the evasive, grandiose generalities that are your norm.

Sadly, we recognize that you may not have the psychological capacity for this self-reflection, self-responsibility, or personal growth. We recall you saying in so many ways that you were 'beyond' personal growth. But if you integrate our reflections to you, it would indicate to us a possibility of you changing your ways, and therefore reduce the likelihood of future students of yours undergoing the deception, exploitation, and abuse at your hands that we experienced. Sadly, we expect you to continue your ways, and we consider you profoundly unfit to present yourself or act as a teacher in any capacity. We hope you will prove us wrong.

In the meantime we consider any future employer of yours duly warned and liable for enabling your access to students. Yoga Barn ignored red flags around you for years--we pray others do not do the same.”

Just to inform you, this platform will be devoted to the Uma Inder expose for the time being.

We will not tolerate any personal attacks from either side. We will not tolerate any accusations or revealing of any personal information about either the accusers or the followers / defenders of Uma Inder. The expose is about Uma, who was a trusted teacher for many of her followers. Some of those followers woke up and decided that harm was done to their existence and daily life by Uma’s teachings. Some of her defenders are still defending Uma, which they have a right to do so. As such, we are interested to see how Uma would change her alleged misconduct as a teacher and we will address that in our conclusion. We will re-open our Facebook site to everyone, to those who alleged Uma abused them, and to those who feel they need to defend Uma’s practices.
No-one will be allowed to personally attack anyone. No attacking the victims who allege abuse and no attacking the defenders of Uma.

Additionally, Uma as a teacher, has the responsibility to ensure that her students are well, and to address any and all complaints. Her defenders should not be her mouthpiece. Uma Inder should speak for herself.

F.A.C.T. has more than enough evidence to defend the truth and to stand behind the victims. We are discussing the alleged improper teachings of Uma Inder and we will give a platform for Uma’s defenders to express their views. Uma Inder is a teacher and as such has high control and influence over her followers critical thinking. We do not wish to see any post by anyone up until our conclusion at the end of this week, at which time everyone will have a platform to speak up. No organization can be more unbiased and as fair as we are.
